Roseville-based office equipment company WiZiX Technology Group Inc. has acquired select Toshiba America Business Solutions commercial accounts in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area.

As part of the agreement with Toshiba, WiZiX will now serve and support all of Toshiba accounts in much of Northern Nevada and parts of Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties in California.

“WiZiX is very excited to expand our ever-growing footprint with this investment into the greater Reno/Lake Tahoe, Nevada marketplace. We are very grateful to Toshiba for their continued partnership and trusting us with the care of their customers.” said Gary Johnson, founder and CEO of WiZiX, in a news release.

As part of the deal, WiZiX will retain the existing Reno branch staff of Toshiba Business Solutions. WiZiX opened an office in Reno at the end of last year, said Eric McIntosh, senior vice president with WiZiX. He declined to disclose the value of the transaction. The company has about 60 employees.

"We continue to keep looking for more acquisition targets," McIntosh said.

Johnson started WiZiX in in 2017 and then began expanding it through five acquisitions in three years.

In addition to Roseville and now Reno, WiZiX has offices in Fresno, San Jose, Fairfield and Rohnert Park.

WiZiX sells, leases and services equipment from Toshiba, Fujitsu, Ricoh, Savin, Brother, Kyocera/Copystar and others.

“As longstanding partners of Gary Johnson and WiZiX, we are pleased with their expansion through the acquisition of our Reno branch,” said Larry White, CEO of Toshiba America Business Solutions, in a news release. “While our branches are not for sale, the synergies in this unique case were clear and we’re looking forward to continuing to advance the Toshiba business through this growing partnership.”

In the early 1990s, Johnson started Zoom Imaging Solutions in Roseville, which he sold in 2012 to Global Imaging Systems, a subsidiary of Xerox Holdings Corp. (NYSE: XRX). Johnson stayed on with Global Imaging until 2016.
