Two companies won the top prize in the StartupSac Warm-up Pitch contest held this week at Granite City Coworking in Folsom.
Rather than a cash prize, the winners get an hour to make their cases for funding directly to Moneta Ventures, the Folsom-based venture capital fund.
The companies are Adload Technologies Inc. of Sacramento and Core Impact Inc. of Elk Grove.
Adload is seeking $1.5 million to expand its digital screen advertising for big rigs, according to Dustin Cox, vice president of business development, who made the pitch for the company.
Core Impact is seeking $500,000 for its Internet of Things sports apparel that tracks muscle activity in real time, said company CEO Samuel Taylor, who made the pitch.
The pitch presentations were judged by four members of the Sacramento Angels investment group and Sabya Das, a partner with Moneta.
Moneta is in the midst of raising its third fund. The $300 million fund will be the largest locally based venture capital fund in Sacramento history.
Eight companies presented at the in-person Warm-up Pitch, which has been on hiatus since the pandemic, said StartupSac CEO Laura Good.
Adload does the work of selling, managing and producing the ads that appear on the backs of trucks with a revenue-sharing model for the trucks’ owners. The digital screens are connected via 4G Wi-Fi networks, so they can be geofenced and tracked for specific geographies.
Core Impact has developed a platform that monitors specific muscle groups through sensors embedded in garments that measure muscle activity, muscle fatigue and muscle acceleration, along with heart rate and pulse. That data shows which muscle groups are working at 90% efficiency versus 70% efficiency, and that provides actionable information for exercises to correct problems.
Core Impact was in the most recent cohort of the Growth Factory accelerator program in Rocklin.
