Elk Grove will be showing off its startup community with local companies presenting at an InnoGrove Open House.
“We want to highlight the Elk Grove startup story,” said Steve Barnett, general manager of InnoGrove, an Elk Grove coworking space. “We’re getting a nice critical mass of startup companies. We want to tell a bit of that story."
The event is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at InnoGrove, 8153 Elk Grove Blvd., Suite 20.
The open house isn’t intended to be an investor pitch session, but local investors are being invited to attend, Barnett said.
"I don't think a lot of people are aware of what's going on in Elk Grove," he said.
Some of the companies presenting include Boummeringue, Clockwork Logistics, Core Impact, EyeRate, Sinful Treats, Soar Optics and VestLife.
Two of the companies, EyeRate and Core Impact, are currently in the second cohort of the Growth Factory’s funded accelerator program.
Boummeringue is currently in the FourthWave accelerator for women-led companies.
Participation in those accelerators is a competitive process.
EyeRate is a customer communication platform that pays employees who receive positive online feedback.
Core Impact makes Internet-of-Things sports apparel that tracks muscle activity in real time.
Boummeringue is a reverse logistics service for fashion brands that have a high volume of returns. The company collects items for return, repacks them, labels and routes them for its customers.
The open house is sponsored by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and the city of Elk Grove. The city supports entrepreneurs with cash grants as part of its Startup Elk Grove Incentive Program. The grants under the program don’t have to be paid back to the city, unless the company is sold or moves out of Elk Grove.
Three of the companies have received cash from the city program, and InnoGrove has received funding for equipment and furniture.
InnoGrove occupies 6,500 square feet. It opened in 2015.
