The Startup World Cup has selected 10 companies for its regional finals in Sacramento as part of its global technology pitch competition circuit, where the final winner gets a $1 million investment.
The pitches will be live and in person Tuesday at a free event in the concert hall at Rock & Brews Restaurant at Cal Expo.
Startup World Cup is a San Jose-based event that runs dozens of local events around the globe. This year's finalists will compete in September at an event in San Francisco.
The companies to pitch in Sacramento include:
•Advance Ag, a Sacramento company developing technology to make information for precision and sustainable agriculture.
•Bekonix, A Sacramento-based company developing a platform to assist in the development of Internet of Things devices.
•BrainScanology, a Cupertino company whose technology allows rapid measurements of brain shapes for analysis without knowing area or volume.
•Fuelin, A Northern California-based website with deep nutritional information for athletes.
•Japa Inc., A Sacramento startup whose hardware and software manages parking lots and garages with data and tracking.
•Matrubials Inc., a Davis company developing milk peptide-based therapeutics to combat antimicrobial resistance.
•Neural Lab Inc., an El Dorado Hills company that has developed a touch-free device controller that works with multiple systems as a basic plug-in.
•Ravata Solutions, a Davis-based fertility and reproduction startup that provides diagnostics for in-vitro fertilization.
•RevShopp, a Sacramento company whose site helps women shop for clothes that fit better for individual body types.
•VestLife, an Elk Grove developer of an app for keeping the portable records of the developmentally disabled.
The Startup World Cup is sponsored by San Jose-based venture capital firm Pegasus Tech Ventures. Pegasus portfolio companies include SpaceX, Airbnb Inc. (Nasdaq: ABNB), SoFi Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: SOFI) and DoorDash Inc. (NYSE: DASH).
