San Francisco-based micro food hall Local Kitchens is quickly growing its presence around the Sacramento area, with its latest planned location set for the Natomas Crossing development.

The company's locations house a variety of restaurants under one roof, giving customers the ability to mix and match orders. Its location in Roseville, the only local site currently in operation, offers five restaurants, including Señor Sisig, Curry Up Now, The Melt, Nash & Proper and Garden of Eat'n.

Local Kitchens recently applied to make tenant improvements to an approximately 1,800-square-foot space at 2610 Arena Blvd., Suite 110, in Sacramento's Natomas neighborhood.

Heath Kastner, who handles leasing for the Natomas Crossing development on behalf of commercial real estate brokerage CBRE, said Local Kitchens will be located in a new multi-tenant building that is under construction at the southwest corner of Arena Boulevard and East Commerce Way. The other tenant planned for the building is Starbucks.

Kasey Hayano, operations director for Local Kitchens, said the Natomas location will mirror existing locations in the format of pickup counters, greeters and touch-screen digital ordering kiosks for in-store orders. Customers will also be able to order online for delivery, pickup or dine-in.

"We love the growing neighborhood and community and think it's a great fit for Local Kitchens," Hayano said in an email. "This site in particular is part of a new construction development and will be a fresh space optimized for our concept. We've seen a lot of success at our existing Roseville location and we want to bring these local restaurant options to another Sacramento-area community."

Restaurant partners at the Natomas location are still being planned and will be finalized about a month before opening, Hayano said. The site is expected to open in late 2022.

The planned micro food hall will join other previously approved projects at the Natomas site, including Wendy's, Chipotle and Chevron, which will have a small neighborhood market. Costco Wholesale Corp. (Nasdaq: COST) has also filed plans with the city indicating its intent to build a 160,526-square-foot warehouse store, which would be southwest of the Chevron station and Starbucks store, the Business Journal previously reported.

Local Kitchens is also in the process of developing two other area sites. Those locations will be in Davis and Folsom.

Hayano said the Davis location is slated to open this summer, while the Folsom location is planned for the first quarter of 2023. The company is pursuing opportunities for further expansion in areas such as Citrus Heights, Granite Bay and Arden-Arcade.
