As part of our Sacramento Inno coverage, the Business Journal for the first time compiled a list of Startups to Watch in the new year. These startups are poised to make big moves, either in growth, funding, technology or development. We're highlighting 13 startups, generally with fewer than 100 employees, about 5 years old or less and that have raised less than $50 million. The group includes a diverse mix of companies throughout the region.
Startup to Watch: IGH Naturals Inc.
Supplement technology company IGH Naturals Inc. developed an electrolyte mix to ward off muscle cramps, increase performance and aid in body recovery after strenuous workouts.
The Rocklin company’s first product, MagNaK Speed Sauce, is a supplement that contains magnesium, sodium and potassium, along with other compounds that make the chemicals biologically available to be absorbed by the body. This first product is a supplement aimed at athletes, and it doesn’t require Food and Drug Administration approval.
Through the Covid-19 shutdowns, the company started to work on supplements to aid medical patients with hydration without an intravenous drip. That product, Humolyte, is for patients with a vulnerable gut who need hydration because of diarrhea, nausea or vomiting. The company is beginning clinical trials on that product to show efficacy, said CEO and founder Dr. Sourabh Kharait. Kharait is a medical doctor of internal medicine and he has a doctorate in cellular and molecular pathology.
So far, the company has three patents, and it has two more pending. It is now focused on selling its supplements via e-commerce off its own site and on Amazon. The company also plans to license its technology to other manufacturers.
