The Sacramento region has made great strides in diversifying its economy away from its long dependence on state government and real estate.

Much of this has been achieved through new innovations created in the region in such areas as information technology, health care, biotechnology, agriculture, financial technology and sustainability.

At the Sacramento Business Journal, we've been documenting these developments, and the innovators and institutions behind them, for many years.

Now, we're launching a new platform that will be solely dedicated to news coverage and analysis of the Sacramento region's innovation economy. It's called Sacramento Inno.

Our new website will go live Sept. 14 with news and features about the innovators, startup investors, incubators and other players focused on making the Sacramento region's economy more innovative and dynamic.

"As the Sacramento region continues to grow and expand as a tech and innovation hub in Northern California, it is logical that the Business Journal expand our coverage of the tech and innovation ecosystem," said Sacramento Business Journal Publisher and Market President David Lichtman. "Innovation is crucial to our region’s growth and the Sacramento Inno platform puts key information in one easy-to-use place, making it easier for interested parties to access."

Sacramento Inno is part of a national network in more than 40 cities nationwide through our parent company, Charlotte, North Carolina-based American City Business Journals. About 20 ACBJ cities already have Inno websites, and the rest of the markets will join them in September.

Our coverage of the innovation economy will be led by the Sacramento Business Journal's longtime technology industry reporter Mark Anderson, with assistance from the rest of the Business Journal editorial staff.

Consistent with the Business Journal editorial philosophy, we will be serving you with news and information intended to help you find business opportunity and avoid risk — stories of growing companies that could be your future partners or competitors; innovators who are disrupting their business sectors; and potential investors, mentors and networking opportunities.

Sacramento Inno will also feature special publications and events, such as Inno Under 25, Inno on Fire and Startups to Watch.

Sacramento Inno content will be free to current Sacramento Business Journal subscribers, while individual Sacramento Inno subscriptions will also be available for purchase at a low monthly fee. Our local content will be bolstered by stories written by Inno reporters around the country.

We look forward to providing you with a more in-depth understanding of innovation in the Sacramento region. And if you know of an innovator who should be spotlighted in Sacramento Inno, reach out to me at asteinhauer@bizjournals.com or to Mark Anderson at manderson@bizjournals.com.
