Women account for 116 million firms across the U.S., employing nearly 9 million people and generating $1.7 trillion in sales, as of 2017. Women-owned firms (51% or more) account for 39% of all privately held firms and contribute 8% of employment and 4.2% of revenues. Virginia ranks 6th in the top ten states where women-owned business’ have increased their economic clout. Richmond ranks 10th out of the top ten metropolitan areas where there has been growth in employment vitality with the increase of women-owned businesses. (1)

BDO is excited to support the Richmond Chapter of National Association of Women in Business Owners (NAWBO) and the 2019 Women of Excellence Awards.
