Slope, a Richmond firm that provides a platform for clinical trials, has named Terry Edwards as its new chief operating officer.

Edwards is a founder and former CEO of Knoxville, Tennessee, digital health care company PerfectServe Inc. It was purchased by private equity in 2018. He has been a strategic adviser to Slope for the past two years, helping oversee the development of the company’s go-to-market strategy.

"Terry has proven to be an invaluable resource,” Slope CEO Rust Felix said in a statement. “I am confident that his strategic vision, ability to drive clarity and focus, and deep experience in how to scale an organization will be instrumental as we continue to grow."

In his new role, Edwards will implement strategies to help the company gets its technology to sponsors, contract research organizations, research sites and labs. The company says its software provides customers with access to higher quality sample data, leading to less risk and improved compliance, monitoring and reporting of clinical trials.

In a Q&A on Slope’s website, Edwards said the new year for the company will be focused on leveraging its network “to drive industry standardization while delivering new data and insights that help big pharma sponsors execute studies with much grader speed and efficiency.”

Slope has raised nearly $24 million to date, according to PitchBook, including a $20 million Series A round in 2021 based on a $75 million valuation.
