Richmond’s West Cary Group, an advertising and marketing tech firm, said Tuesday it has hired former Capital One Financial Corp. exec Carolyn McCarty as its chief client officer.

McCarty previously led diversity and inclusion and marketing for Capital One’s commercial bank and, since August 2020, had been leading an eponymous consulting firm. She started her career at Richmond’s The Martin Agency.

Led by President and CEO Moses Foster, West Cary Group said it is approaching a headcount of 100 with employees based in 11 states. It offers both creative advertising services and data analytics, as well as mobile application design and development and web design and development. It also offers IT engineering services and embedded custom project teams.

McCarty said in a statement she is joining West Cary Group for its “breakthrough work” and “21st-century, cutting-edge marketing strategy.” She wrote on LinkedIn that the move is a return to her “agency roots” that began with her work with Martin.

West Cary Group’s clients include Capital One, CoStar Group, Atlantic Union Bank, Fannie Mae and Dominion Energy. It has also worked with public sector clients like the U.S. Forest Service, the Henrico Economic Development Authority and Richmond International Airport.
