Richmond employee communications platform goHappy is expanding its operations to Canada.

The company offers a software-as-a-service platform that allows companies to communicate with what founder and CEO Shawn Boyer calls “decentralized employees.” These are frontline workers who do not sit at a desk and do not have access to email. The platform allows companies to send messages directly to these employees through their phones.

Its current clients include Florida-based restaurant chain First Watch, Oregon-based dairy products producer Tillamook, Virginia-based global hotel giant Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. and California-based fast-food giant Taco Bell.

Boyer, who also co-founded Glen Allen job marketplace Snagajob, said in a statement that a number of goHappy’s clients have operations in Canada “and have been asking us to serve their frontline employees there, so this just makes a ton of sense to us.”

Boyer says goHappy helps companies decrease turnover, increase productivity and increase referrals. He told us in June the company has grown 300% over the last year. At the time, the company had 22 employees. Boyer declined to provide revenue numbers but said at the time he expected the company will grow 200% over the next year.
