Dominion Energy Innovation Center unveils new accelerator cohort

The Dominion Energy Innovation Center in Ashland has unveiled 10 climate-focused tech startups that will participate in its 2023 accelerator program, which will run from June to October.

The participating companies will receive mentorship and develop pilot opportunities with the center’s network for partners, including utility company Dominion Energy Inc. (NYSE: D)

DEIC Executive Director Adam Sledd said in a statement the program aims to jump-start companies “that will continue to make Virginia a leader in offering clean, reliable and affordable energy.” This year’s cohort is the largest in the accelerator's history.

The participating companies include:

  • ALD Technical Solutions (San Diego) — The developer of a composite wrap technology to improve the lifespan and performance of powerlines and poles.
  • ChargerHelp! (Los Angeles) — A nationwide electric vehicle charging operations and maintenance provider.
  • Datch (San Francisco) — The provider of a technology platform that leverages artificial intelligence and front-line workers’ communications to increase management output and improve data quality.
  • ElectroTempo (Arlington, Virginia) — The maker of software that helps future-proof electric vehicle charging and grid investments by providing info on projections and demand.
  • Independence Hydrogen (Ashburn, Virginia) — A decentralized hydrogen production, storage and delivery platform.
  • Infravision (originally from Australia; offices in San Francisco and Austin, Texas) — A company that offers aerial robotic and software solutions to automate powerline construction and perform maintenance.
  • Somax Circular Solutions (Spring City, Pennsylvania) — A company that utilizes hydrothermal carbonization tech to turn solid waste streams into hydrochar and biosolution.
  • SparkChange (Somerville, Massachusetts) — This company offers charging-as-a-service solutions for electric vehicles with an eye on businesses that operate fleets of EVs.
  • Sparkfund (Washington, D.C.) — The maker of an energy solutions platform that drives customer adoption of electric vehicle infrastructure.
  • Trova Commercial Vehicles (Dublin, Virginia) — A supplier of low-cost solutions for the industrialization and market acceptance of battery-electric commercial vehicles.
