Office Envy: Inside Venture X, Richmond's Newest Coworking Space

A national franchise is celebrating its decision to set up Richmond's newest coworking space in the heart of Scott's Addition.

Venture X, the newest entrant to RVA's shared workspace offerings, was already 50 percent occupied when it held its grand opening in early May. A crucial portion of that demand was generated from the office's location and fresh new design.

The 18,000-square-foot space cost about $1.8 million to set up, according to the company, and it features vast community workspace along with dozens of private offices. A full kitchen keeps coffee brewing and snacks stocked, and lounge areas as well as a table-lined patio give tenants more casual settings to inhabit.

Venture X memberships – which allow 24/7 access – range from shared and dedicated desks to small offices and 10-person, fully furnished suites. Community memberships start at $40 per month, shared desks start at $225 and private offices rent for up to $500. It also has a couple rooms for up to $6,000.

The space also includes three conference rooms and a large space to host third-party events. It offers several common areas that members pay to use, but the majority of its square footage is devoted to about 80 glass-enclosed private offices that line the halls.

Locally based PermitZIP completed engineering drawings for the space, and Richmond's Architecture AF designed it.

Venture X is a franchise brand owned by United Franchise Group, a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based company that owns 11 companies in differing industries. The brand anticipates having 100 locations operational by the end of 2022, and offers members access to any of its Venture X spaces.
