This Tech/Consulting Company Hybrid Wants to 'Re-Ignite Workplace Excellence'

For almost three decades, Tim Hebert successfully built up and ran the company Atrion, a leading IT services firm, specializing in everything from security to integration to data center solutions.

The company played a key role in helping organizations further grow their business through customized tech solutions, often behind the scenes.

When the company was acquired by the Exeter-based Carousel Industries in 2016, Hebert was presented with the unique opportunity to start a new, more outward-facing company that used his expertise in technology to help companies create a work culture driven by efficiency.

In mid-2017, Hebert launched Trilix, a hybrid between a consulting and tech firm that uses custom applications to fix or improve a company’s business processes and workflow systems.

“We are looking to go into companies and help them re-ignite the notion of workplace excellence,” Garry Foisy, principal of business development at Trilix, told Rhode Island Inno. “Employees experience these nagging problems everyday when they come to work. This could be in sales, finance or customer service ... all of these things, when you pull them together, create great pains. But if they were fixed, they could have a dramatic impact.”

The company is composed of mostly ex-Atrion employees and works largely in the nonprofit, health, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

"At the end of day, we want to make sure users are part of it and adopt the systems and technology we employ."

Trilix first goes into a company and does a top-to-bottom analysis of how it is operating in the present day and how it could improve in the near future. Then it works with the company to determine where they want to go and how to get there.

“There are lots of companies that do business consulting — we are not that,” said Foisy. “We are fixing specific problems versus assessing businesses holistically or just coming in with one tech solution.”

After arriving at the solution, Trilix can create a range of applications such as mobile apps, customer portals and dashboards.

The problems the company solves for are far and wide, but one example is better integration of the sales, marketing and finance teams. This includes creating or integrating systems that can tell people on these various teams how much their company has invoiced in previous years or what deals are in the pipeline in the near future.

For another company that manages low-income housing in the U.S., Trilix created an engagement platform that can help a project management firm keep track of all the moving parts in a project from construction to property management.

Trilix has also helped companies with other integrations such as connecting phone systems to customer relationship management systems so employees can see the information on a screen when a call comes in. Helping nonprofits update their old excel sheets and antiquated databases is another problem Trilix helps address, said Foisy.

But creating a solution is not the end of the road.

The company wants to ensure that the solutions they create do what they were intended to for all stakeholders including executives, employees and a company’s clients.

“At the end of day, we want to make sure users are part of it and adopt the systems and technology we employ,” said Foisy. “Adoption is a key part of it right from the get-go to ensure there is a functional return on investment.”
