Professional Women of New England Takeover Finn's Harborside: The event is for all women regardless of profession or background. All are welcome and feel free to bring a friend or colleague along! This event will kick off at 5:30 and will be held outdoors at Finn's Harborside in East Greenwich. Learn more.

Data Carpentry at URI: Learn basic coding in R and data management skills to get you started or be more effective in graduate school and beyond. Registration for the data carpentry workshops is free and includes free boxed lunch on Friday. The workshop starts at 1 p.m. at the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering at URI.

AFP-RI's Annual Meeting: This is the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ first in=person meeting since the start of the pandemic. Cortney Nicolato, President and CEO of the United Way of RI will be the guest speaker. The meeting will also include the introduction the new board slate. This event starts at 8 a.m. at the United Way in Providence.

RI Business Connections Luncheon: Melvin Veasley will present on the topic "How to Grow your Business With or Without Paid Ads". Veasley is an expert in marketing concepts, execution and data mining. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. There is no event fee. The event will be held at Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grill. Chelo's provides the room for free. Therefore attendees are required to purchase a lunch.

Textile Sustainability Forum: The Textile Sustainability Forum brings industry, academia, and government together to chart the course towards unifying environmental stewardship with business and economic growth. It’s a chance to learn from each other and work together to craft constructive solutions. Featured speakers include Sen. Jack Reed, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. David Cicilline, Gov. Daniel J. McKee and URI President Marc Parlange. The forum starts at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Union, 50 Lower College Rd., South Kingstown, RI 02881. For more information visit here.

Branchfood launch: On September 22, leaders in the Rhode Island food ecosystem will convene to celebrate the expansion of Branchfood—a platform for food innovation—into the Ocean State. In partnership with Rhode Island Commerce and the Cambridge Innovation Center, Branchfood aims to accelerate innovation by connecting the community of food entrepreneurs, industry experts, corporate leaders, and investors who share a passion for improving our food system for generations to come. The kickoff starts at 4 p.m. at Venture Café Providence, 225 Dyer Street, Providence, RI 02903.

GSO Science Saturday: Attend this free, family-friendly day at the shore of Narragansett Bay. Take in the latest in coastal & ocean exploration, discovery and science. This event will take place at URI’s Bay Campus and include behind-the-scenes tours, interactive experiences and conversations with a wide variety of ocean experts. Pre-registration for this event and certain tours is necessary.

Small Business Administration Training: The U.S. Small Business Administration, SEED Corp. and RISCPA/RI Business Forum are partnering to bring back in-person SBA 504 and 7A training. Topics covered will include all the latest SOP updates, lending practices, mechanics, and benefits to the SBA 504 and 7A programs, franchise changes, environmental reviews, SBA liquidation/servicing, EID UL subordinations and historic property certifications. This event starts at 7:15 a.m. at the Wyndham Newport Hotel in Middletown.
