Bountiful Kitchen, a prepared meal and delivery service based in Newton, has been acquired by a Rhode Island company looking to expand in Greater Boston.

Feast & Fettle of Providence has acquired Bountiful Kitchen as its first such buy, giving it a better ability to expand in the Boston area. The five-year-old Feast & Fettle first said in February it would be delivering meals to a few Boston-area neighborhoods including the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, South Boston, Arlington and Cambridge.

Feast & Fettle separately said in May it was expanding to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

With the Bountiful Kitchen acquisition, Feast & Fettle said it was combining its technology and production capacity with Bountiful’s customer and vendor relationships in the Boston area.

"We were very impressed with the traction that the team at Bountiful was able to achieve in such a short period of time — it's reminiscent of where Feast & Fettle was just a few years ago," stated Feast & Fettle CEO, Carlos Ventura, in a statement.

Julian Cohen, Bountiful’s founder, will stay on as director of product partnerships. "The team at Feast & Fettle is methodically scaling up meal delivery, while still personalizing the experience for the customer and staying true to the local community," Cohen said.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
