Ever been curious about working in the manufacturing industry? LinkedIn may have the  answers you seek in a new video course entitled, "Skilled Trades: Manufacturing Careers."

The hour-long beginner's program is instructed by Rhode Islander and Treau CTO Kipp Bradford. The Brown University alumnus also lectured at Yale University, served as research scientist at MIT and founded kippkitts, an open-source hardware producer. This is the second instructional video he's starred in; "Introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing" was released in 2018.

"Skilled Trades: Manufacturing Careers" aims to counteract the perspective that the manufacturing industry is populated "with tedious assembly-line labor," its description states. "In reality, today’s advanced manufacturing roles boast higher-than-average pay rates, a longer job tenure than most, and one of the highest percentage of workers eligible for health benefits."

As Providence Geeks co-host and area thought leader Brian Jepson noted, the course was filmed across Rhode Island, at places like the Community College of Rhode Island, the Old Slater Mill and Davies Career-Tech High School.

While the site typically requires viewers to have a LinkedIn Learning membership to access courses like these, this video is free and accessible to all.
