More news out of Providence-based restaurant management platform Upserve: Sheryl Hoskins has taken on the role of CEO of the company, while founder Angus Davis will fill the role as the strategic advisor to Upserve's board of directors.

Hoskins was formerly general manager — and eventually chief revenue and product officer — at ACTIVE Network, an event and activity management software. A Loyola University grad and U.S. Army veteran, she also served a McKesson Corp and General Electric.

“Sheryl brings experience and a unique skill set to lead the company through its next phase of growth, and I am excited to welcome her as CEO," said Davis on the move.

Hoskins echoed Davis' enthusiasm.

"Restaurants are an important part of the U.S. economy, making up over $800 billion in U.S. sales and employing over 10 percent of the total workforce. With approximately 50 percent of restaurants going out of business by year five, our mission is to buck this trend,” said Hoskins. “With Upserve’s intent of providing a world-class solution, we are confident that we can enable these restaurants to thrive.”

This isn't the first 2018 headline for the company. In July, Rhode Island's top-funded startup announced its acquisition of Tel Aviv, Israel-based inventory management platform SimpleOrder. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
