Merger alert.
Providence entrepreneur Nick Inglis' Information Coalition has merged with ARMA International, an Overland Park, Kan.-based membership organization for professionals involved with managing information assets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Information Coalition has grown in local prominence thanks to its annual Infomation Governance Conference. Held at the RHode Island Convention Center, it work to establish best practices and spark conversation for companies and professionals overseeing organizational information.
The merger has occurred under ARMA International brand, which a press release on the deal said "has significantly more history and name recognition in the information space."
Moving forward, Inglis will serve as the organization's executive director of content and programming and will help spearhead initiatives to assist with the two brand's alignment and expansion. ARMA International CEO Jocelyn Gunter will continue in her present role at company headquarters in Kansas; Inglis will stay in Providence.
"I genuinely believe that we will be able to accomplish more for the profession together than we ever could have separately, and I'm so excited for the combined future of the organizations," Inglis said of the merger. "I'm incredibly proud of the accomplishments of the information coalition, and I look forward to the future accomplishments of a newly combined ARMA International."
Gunter echoed his sentiments, adding that move would help ARMA reach significant goals.
"In addition to the strong alignment in our vision, two very clear opportunities came to light," she explained. "First, it was clear that the Information Coalition team would be a great fit to help bring ARMA’s strategic initiatives to fruition. Secondly, the Information Coalition and InfoGovCon brands present a great opportunity to expand our reach and awareness to those who have never known the ARMA brand and to those who may have become disenfranchised with the ARMA brand. We’re truly taking big innovative leaps here at ARMA and multiplying our value to the community. This merger is an important part of our forward momentum, but it’s not the only thing new about ARMA. Sometimes you need something big like this to get the attention of both your supporters and detractors so that they hear you and believe the change is more than just talk.”
