Zero-equity startup accelerator MassChallenge has announced its top startups in Boston and Rhode Island. Of the 30 organizations participating in this year's Ocean State-focused cohort, six were named "top" for 2018 (with 26 from a group of 150 in Boston).

These Rhode Island startups will then compete for shares of $50,000 in cash prizes (and $1.5 million in Boston) during the final evaluation round; prizes will be presented at the MassChallenge Awards on Oct. 17 in Boston. Judges will weigh each startup's demonstration of its "growth and impact."

"It’s incredible to see just how much our 2018 Boston and Rhode Island cohorts have grown in such a short amount of time,” said MassChallenge Boston Managing Director Kiki Mills Johnston. “With support from the local innovation communities and our network of mentors, experts and corporates, each entrepreneur has taken what they’ve learned to create real impact across industries. I’m looking forward to celebrating their achievements at the 2018 MassChallenge Awards and seeing all they achieve long after our program closes.”

The six top startups are listed before, with descriptions provided by the MassChallenge website.
