DisruptHR, an "information exchange" event designed for HR professionals, is coming to the New England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich on Sept. 24.

It works like this: 14 speakers are given five minutes to teach the audience, with slides rotating every 15 seconds. The event isn't relegated to one city (or even country!), either; it travels across the world (think New Zealand, Spain, Greece) with a mission to inspire attendees.

The typical participant?

"If you’re an HR professional, a CEO, a technologist, a community leader — and you’ve got something to say about talent, culture or technology — Disrupt is the place," its website states.

Janice Dru, committee member of HR advocacy community and DistruptHR sponsor RI SHRM, spoke to Rhode Island Inno about the day-long conference in an email.

"DisruptHR RI will be the first event of it's kind in Rhode Island, bringing together HR professionals and business leaders to learn about current trends in the workplace and how the future of people management is changing," Dru said. "All are welcome to attend to learn about what's important in the workplace today and how companies and organizations can attract and retain better talent. This will be a fast-paced event ... and it will be a great opportunity for networking as well."

Other organizers for the Rhody DistruptHR include Ray Dutelle, RI SHRM director of operations, and Megan Herne, RI SHRM director of programming and professional development.
