On Sept. 20, Rhode Island Inno came to Sprout Coworking in Providence to celebrate the 80-plus Coolest Company nominees at our inaugural Coolest Companies Fest.

If you're unfamiliar, our Coolest Companies list celebrates entities in Rhode Island with a uniquely special culture, mission or employee perks. The list was compiled after asking the Rhode Island startup and entrepreneurial community for input on which in-state companies were the coolest — and it answered the call. Together, with editorial insight, we developed a list of nominees (if you're bummed you don't see your company's name on the list, make sure to nominate it next year!).

When checking out the list, you’ll notice we used the term “companies” loosely. There’s some awesome nonprofits and other entities on the list, but hey — cool doesn’t discriminate.

Our event celebrating those nominees was an unequivocal blast. Amongst corn hole and giant Jenga games, a DJ, photo booth, food truck meals and a great bar, we mingled, networked and announced the winners of the Coolest Companies 2018. They are:

The Rhode Island Inno team wanted to take a quick moment to thank you, dear readers, for making it as successful and enjoyable as it was, and for giving us the opportunity to put faces to names and hear your stories live and in person.

For those who were unable to attend, we missed you! However, there will be a chance to meet again soon.  Our next R.I. soirée is 50 on Fire awards event. Nominations will open soon for this event, which is an opportunity to celebrate local innovators across multiple categories and industries. Keep a weather eye on that space, as more news and updates will come soon.

In the meantime, have a great idea for a story about Rhode Island innovation, and the movers and shakers who are making change for the better? Drop us a line. We love to hear from readers, and welcome pitches and input.

Lastly, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also thank our event sponsors: Cox Business, Orson and Brusini, Sprout Coworking and Citizen's Bank.

Check back soon for pictures from the event!
