Corvallis-based motion capture technology company OptiTrack has doubled the size of its manufacturing space and is hiring.
The company, which is part of NaturalPoint and under parent company Planar Systems, makes 3D tracking cameras and software used for motion capture by customers in industries such as entertainment, robotics and biomechanics research.
The new 25,000-square-foot facility is attached to the company’s headquarters and existing manufacturing space. The expanded facility has a new surface-mount technology line, more warehouse storage space and dedicated space for prototyping, additive manufacturing and assembly, the company said.
“In addition to building more products faster, we’ll be able to introduce new innovations and better support custom capabilities,” said Vice President of Operations Marc Alley in a written statement.
The company, which was founded in 1996, plans to hire as part of this expansion. It is already advertising for CNC machinists and operators, mechanical engineers and senior software developers. OptiTrack did not receive any state or local incentives for this project.
OptiTrack customers include Disney, Nike, NASA and Activision.
“Our new facility delivers everything we need in one building, giving us more control over the entire manufacturing process as well as the services we offer,” said Executive Vice President Stephanie Hines in a written statement. “This spans research, concepting and assembly to better and more quickly meet customer needs in markets all over the world as well as capitalize on the continued proliferation of advanced mocap for applications as diverse as simulation, training, movement sciences, virtual production and beyond.”
The new facility is already operating. The company expects new product development within the space later this year and in early 2025.
According to Portland Business Journal research the company has 100 employees with 80 of them based locally.
