Portland reusable packaging company Bold Reuse has partnered with the Arizona Diamondback to provide drink cups at the team's stadium.

The partnership will introduce reusable cups for all PepsiCo beverages in several sections at Chase Field starting July 26. As a part of the reusable cup program, designated bins will be placed in the stadium for cups to be returned, which Bold Reuse will collect, clean, and repack for the next event.

The program will run through the end of the season and expansion to other areas of the stadium will be determined at a later date.

The Diamondbacks are the first major pro sports venue in Arizona and the first Major League Baseball team to implement a reusable cup program with Bold Reuse, which has gained national traction as a sustainability partner. Bold Reuse launched a reusable cup program at Arizona State’s Desert Financial Arena in April and has additional partnerships with the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center and the Portland Timbers at Providence Park.

"We are excited to partner with the Diamondbacks as the first MLB team and the first major league sports team in the state to implement reuse," said Heather Watkins, co-founder of Bold Reuse, in a statement. "With our wash hub only minutes away from Chase Field, we look forward to working together to reduce waste and strengthen reuse opportunities in downtown Phoenix."

Chase Field and both Portland venues share a common hospitality partner in Chicago-based Levy, which played an “instrumental” role in bringing Bold Reuse cups to Phoenix.

Also involved in the deal is longtime Chase Field partner PepsiCo, who is sponsoring the pilot program as part of its PepsiCo Positive initiative.

Bold Reuse launched operations in Phoenix near Chase Field earlier in 2024 after earning a grant from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to expand operations.

The women-owned Oregon startup has expanded to additional markets in Kansas City and Seattle and has partnered with Starbucks to support the Borrow A Cup program.

D-backs Hall of Fame ceremony

The Diamondbacks will debut the reusable cups one day before the team's inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, July 27, ahead of the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Luis Gonzalez and Randy Johnson are the two former players to be honored in the pregame ceremony.

Both players will have their jerseys retired in the ceremony, which will be hosted by D-backs radio announcer Greg Schulte, who called games since the team’s initial season before retiring after the 2023 season. Team owner Ken Kendrick and President, CE, and General Partner Derrick Hall will present the plaques.

The first 20,000 guests to attend will receive a free Hall of Fame-themed T-shirt commemorating the two players and their accomplishments. Gates will open at 3 p.m.
