Digital archiving company Smarsh named Vinay Mehta chief technology officer as new CEO Kim Crawford Goodman continues to build out her executive team.
Mehta will lead the Smarsh engineering organization, which includes product development, engineering, architecture and hosting, the company said in a written statement. He is focused on investing in communication intelligence and risk management technology for the company’s highly regulated customers.
Smarsh makes software capturing and archiving digital communications. The company’s customers are typically in regulated industries that must keep communication records such as financial services and wealth management. Smarsh has more than 6,500 customers globally including the top 10 global banks.
“Our customers' communications data is one of their most valuable assets. It needs to be protected and leveraged to solve complex compliance problems, both today and in the future,” said Crawford Goodman in a written statement. “Vinay is the right person to align our engineering efforts to solve the challenges facing our diverse customer base, which range from single-office broker-dealers to investment advisories to the world's largest banks."
The company has 1,120 employees with about 248 based in the Portland headquarters. The company’s executive team is increasingly distributed. Mehta lives in Georgia but will be at the company headquarters frequently, the company said.
Most recently Mehta was chief technology officer and information officer at cxLoyalty, a Connecticut-based customer engagement and loyalty company. While at cxLoyalty Mehta “drove globalization of the technology workforce, movement to cloud infrastructure, and lowered overall IT operating costs,” the company said.
"I am honored to join Smarsh as its new CTO and am eager to serve as the bridge by which our engineers enable the business to achieve its strategic goal of maximizing value to customers," Mehta said in a written statement. "Wealth management and financial services is an exciting space with unique challenges due to the rapid pace of change in technology and regulations. Smarsh is committed to developing leading-edge solutions that meet those challenges."
Crawford Goodman joined the company in June 2022. Since then she has named several new execs: Mike Cagle was named CFO and Leander LeSure was named chief people and diversity officer.
