Portland digital studio Dotdotdash was acquired by advertising agency TBWA Worldwide, a business unit of Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC).

Dotdotdash has built its reputation working with brands on interactive experiences. In addition to its Portland headquarters, it has employees in Los Angeles and New York. Clients include Adidas, PepsiCo, The North Face and TikTok.

The Dotdotdash business will continue to be lead by co-founder Kyle Bañuelos, who now has the title managing director; Billy Vinton, now executive director of operations; and Adam Paikowsky, now executive director of technology. Dotdotdash is part of TBWA’s innovation practice called Next.

The two companies have worked together on projects over the last 18 months. TBWA brought Dotdotdash in to work on projects for Adidas and McDonald’s.

“As we collaborated with TBWA on various projects over the past year, it’s clear we share the same vision for where the industry is headed ⏤ creativity that influences product and services, experience design and new forms of communications,” said Bañuelos in a written statement. “That alignment, along with the opportunity to fuel our future growth with the brand thinking and global reach of TBWA, was exciting, as is the opportunity to be the tip of the spear to Next.”

In joining Manhattan-based TBWA, Dotdotdash joins more than 10,000 employees in the collective across 275 agencies.

“Dotdotdash sits right at the convergence of physical and digital ⏤ blending both to imagine new kinds of disruptive brand experiences,” said Luke Eid, chief innovation officer at TBWA and leader of Next, in a written statement. “They have an equal love for the role of brands and disruptive ideas in creating distinctive experiences that break from the sea of sameness.”

Dotdotdash was founded in 2015.
