The new owners of Portland-based cybersecurity firm Tripwire are laying off workers this week, according to a report in the Oregonian.

The business was acquired by Minnesota-based cybersecurity and automation software company HelpSystems for $350 million in February.

HelpSystems confirmed layoffs to the Oregonian Thursday but did not specify how many employees were affected. A statement by the company said it did not plan to close the Portland office.

The Oregonian cited laid-off Tripwire staff who said the cuts "a few dozen" and included some senior managers and directors.

The firm had about 200 local employees and 400 globally in the Portland Business Journals 2022 list of largest technology service providers in the Portland area. Founded in 1997, Tripwire sells cybersecurity and compliance software and had 2021 revenue of $107 million.

It was acquired by Belden Inc., a Missouri-based supplier of specialty networking products and services, in a $710 million deal in 2015. Belden divested the business to HelpSystems in February.

HelpSystems told the Oregonian that it had reviewed Tripwire's operations since its acquisition and decided to "rebuild the organization for growth."
