A fitness apparel company started by a former Nike executive is adding famous fitness industry members to its team to raise its online profile.
Omorpho announced fitness instructors Kirsty Godso, Claire Thomas, Julie “Jaws” Nelson and Mandy DiMarzo as its new brand ambassadors. The women add to the already extensive list of ambassadors Omoporho works with, such as NFL player Julio Jones and actress, singer and producer Cynthia Erivo.
Stefan Olander, a Nike executive of more than 20 years, and his team launched Omorpho and its pilot line Gravity Sportswear in November. It is based on technology the company calls MicroLoad, which is workout clothing that has areas with small amounts of weight incorporated into the fabric in spheres that helps build strength and improve training, according to the company.
The company’s chief financial and operating officer Gareth Hosford said not only will the trainers market the brand to their audiences, but will work with Omorpho to create fitness content to allow for more engagement, brand awareness and community.
“We believe that our product really performs well, and if you do nothing else, don't change anything else but what you wear, you're gonna get a benefit out of that. That said, the best way of communicating about that product and getting word out is by working through communities,” Hosford said.
That content creation has already begun, as last weekend the trainers led a day of fitness, recovery and nutrition education programming through Omorpho’s social media in celebration of National Women’s Health Month and National Fitness Day.
Though the company’s Instagram only has 7,600 followers, the women have nearly 1.3 million Instagram followers combined.
Omorpho’s women’s workout tank starts at $149 while a man’s workout tank starts at $159.
