The newest version of the angel investing event Angel Oregon has selected four finalists who are competing for a potential $300,000 investment.

Angel Oregon Life and Bioscience launched this year by organizer Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. It’s the latest of the revamped Angel Oregon events, and as the name suggests it is focused on startup in life science and biotech. There are two other Angel Oregon events: Oregon Angel Food, which is focused on food and beverage startups, and Angel Oregon Tech, which is aimed at investment-ready tech startups.

The finalists for AOBio are:

  • Biomotum, which developed wearable robotics to help with rehabilitation and mobility for people with difficulty walking.
  • Inherent Targeting, is developing fluorescent imaging agents used in surgery to highlight nerves and improve outcomes.
  • Savorease Therapeutic Foods, which developed crunchy finger foods that can be eaten by people who have trouble swallowing or chewing to help with improving those abilities and support nutrition.
  • StoneStable, which developed a process to coat vaccines in silica and increase stability for transportation and storage.

The companies are going through the due diligence process with the AOBio investment group. On May 26 an event is scheduled for an innovation showcase of the companies and the winner will be announced.

“Any one of these finalists companies has the potential to become the next Absci (a Vancouver biotech startup that went public last summer),” said Jennifer Fox, OEN board member and AOBio volunteer investment director, in a written statement. “It’s truly inspirational that collectively the AOBio startups, program partners, sponsors and investors demonstrate that Oregon is a burgeoning hub for the bioscience sector write large.”

The event planned at the Amaterra Winery in Portland. It’s slated for 3 to 7 p.m. and will include a panel discussion with investors, an Emerge Award, a showcase of other bioscience activity in the region, as well as the final company presentations.

Tickets are available online. The event is in partnership with several local life science and bioscience organizations: Oregon Bioscience Incubator, Oregon Health and Science University and Oregon Bioscience Association.

As for the other Angel Oregon events, OregonAF applications open June 1 and the finale is scheduled for Sept. 15. AOTech will be back next year.
