Two Portland-area companies were named on Forbes' list of 500 best startup employers.

Vancouver-based RealWear and Portland-founded CrowdStreet made the list, published March 8.

RealWear makes wearable technology that lets users collect and stream information from worksites to help workers collaborate. In December it introduced its head-mounted system for industrial employees.

CrowdStreet is a real estate investment marketplace. Last year it relocated its headquarters to Austin, Texas, but not its workforce, which was largely based here.

According to Forbes, the list was compiled by evaluating 2,500 startups with at least 50 employees using three criteria: employer reputation, employee satisfaction and growth. It included firms founded between 2012 and 2019.

CrowdStreet was ranked as No. 248 and RealWear was No. 260.

CrowdStreet had 125 employees in 2021 and revenue of $22.53 million in 2020, according to the Portland Business Journal's list of fastest-growing companies in the region.

RealWear said its employee count was 118 in December and planned significant hiring this year.
