Six startups are vying for more than $7,000 in prize packages in the first West Side Pitch Competition organized by West Side Venture Catalyst Laura Kubisiak and TiE Oregon.

The competition is for startups based in Washington County or whose founder is based in Washington County. The event is focused on traded sector companies so that means startups in software and hardware, biotech or other areas with protected intellectual property.

Here’s who will be pitching at the event March 10:

  • Foodi, designs and builds online menu tools for restaurants.
  • Logic Intelligence is an IT consulting firm that builds data analysis tools for clients.
  • Radious, a marketplace for rentable home office and meeting space.
  • Khalsa Salsa, makes a fusion salsa that includes Indian spices.
  • Sport Source, is an app that connects coaches, athletes and trainers to people who have athletic spaces to rent.
  • Prrl Labs, makes a cannabis vaporizer called Neo designed to offer a better experience than smoking cannabis.

The event is from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St., in Hillsboro. Tickets are available online.

The prize package is $5,000 for first place and $2,500 for second place plus in-kind services for accounting and legal help.

The West Side Venture Catalyst is part of a statewide network of venture catalysts who are funded through grants and operate under different fiscal agents. The group behind the Central Oregon Venture Catalyst just named a new person to the role.

Kubisiak is working with the TiE Oregon Foundation. Her work is funded in part by Oregon Community Foundation, the cities of Hillsboro and Forest Grove economic development and Washington County.
