A Portland-based travel firm has joined with the company behind the magazine Outside to put together a slate of trips in late 2022.
Modern Adventure and Outside Inc. plan to take customers to Alaska's deep backcountry, the French Alps, Everest Base Camp and Chile.
"This partnership with Outside is a natural fit between two brands that love the outdoors and aim to inspire people to discover the world on an intimate level," Modern Adventure CEO Luis Vargas said in a statement. "We're thrilled to partner with their team on these unforgettable trips made for those who crave adventure in untouched wilderness." Vargas has predicted "a golden age of travel" to dawn in the next year or more.
Travelers will be joined by an Outside editor on the trips, though there are options to go without them.
"Modern Adventure connects travelers to extraordinary experiences, and I cannot wait to share my passion for the outdoors — and Outside — with readers participating in these epic trips," Christopher Keyes, the magazine's editor-in-chief, said in a statement. "We've been writing about these places for years, and our editors are excited to experience these dream destinations alongside our readers."
A press release cast the trips as "featuring true wilderness, wildlife and nature, cultural adventure and epic exploration." Costs range in the thousands of dollars.
