CPacket Networks, a California-based network monitoring company, is doubling the size of its downtown Portland office.

The company has space at 412 S.W. 12th Ave. It’s been in Portland since 2017 and has 25 employees here. The Portland office is headed by Paola Moretto, vice president of system engineering for the company.

As part of this expansion, cPacket is hiring. The company is adding across the board in engineering, product management, marketing and sales. The Portland office is an engineering center for the company, said Moretto in an email.

The goal is to build out cPacket’s artificial intelligence and machine learning teams at this location. The company expects to double the Portland headcount in the next five years.

The move comes as the company relocates its headquarters from San Jose to Milpitas, both in the Bay Area.

“It is a fascinating time as cPacket is growing and expanding to meet the market demand,” said CEO Brendan O’Flaherty, in a written statement. “We are setting up now for the next stage of the company’s growth.”

CPacket provides technology for IT organizations to observe, manage and secure networks both on-premises and in public and private cloud environments for both enterprise and government customers. The company has seen growth as customers transition IT environments and need intelligent observation of the network. In particular, the company is focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities within its platform.

The company has seven engineering roles listed for Portland on its hiring website. Moretto said the company will be looking for full stack developers, data scientists, machine learning engineers and software architects.

“Portland’s excellent quality of life and low cost of living compared to other tech hub cities make it attractive for many of our current and future employees, so our office there gives us access to top-notch engineering talent,” said Moretto.
