Cloud Campaign, a marketing software maker dually based in Portland and Boulder, raised $5 million from investors as it builds out its presence in its two hometowns.

The round was led by Oregon Venture Fund and Access Venture Partners.

Cloud Campaign has built software to help marketing agencies and freelance marketers more easily manage and operate social media campaigns across multiple clients. The company has more than 7,000 companies and more than 9,000 users using the product. Clients include Hilton, BMW and Ernst & Young.

The company has 13 employees split between Portland and Boulder, Colorado. It expects to double its headcount in the next year and intends to tap into the talent pools of both cities.

“Boulder and Portland have well-established startup environments and tight-knit communities that will help us achieve the next stage of growth without the high costs of bigger tech cities,” said Ryan Born, co-founder and CEO in a written statement. Born is based in Boulder.

Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Ross Gray is based in Portland.

The company didn’t release financial details but said revenue tripled last year as it added 420 agencies to its customer list.

Key to the companies success is its ability to help marketers work across multiple clients and brands, said Kirk Holland, managing partner at Access Venture Partners, in a written statement.

“We’re excited to support Cloud Campaign’s rapid growth and expansion as it continues to better serve this often underserved market,” Holland added.
