AskNicely raises $20M, stays mum on details

Portland software maker AskNicely raised $20 million from investors at the end of 2021, according to regulatory filings.

The company, which officially shifted its headquarters to Portland from New Zealand in 2019, had no comment on the filing. The filing listed $19.99 million but the round could end up being higher or lower based on elements not reflected in the filing.

On Dec. 30, the company filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission about an equity round. Listed was existing investors Abhisek Sharma of Nexus Venture Partners and Niki Scevak of Blackbird Ventures as well as current board member Michael Carden. Potentially new in this round is Ryan Mandl, partner at Five Elms, who was also listed in the filing.

AskNicely makes software used by customers to gather customer feedback and turns it into actionable information for frontline workers. It has offices in Southeast Portland, Auckland, New Zealand, and Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is hiring across all three locations. Roles including product, marketing and engineering, according to the company website. Much of the engineering team is in Auckland.

The company’s last investment round was in 2019 when it raised $10 million.
