In 2014, Vacasa topped the Business Journal's list of Oregon's Fastest Growing Private Companies. No one had ever heard of this vacation rental company, but its growth was astounding. It had a two-year growth rate of 3,000% and, at just four years old, $26 million in revenue. Since then, Vacasa's star has only risen. Over the years, it became one of Portland's highest funded startups, achieved unicorn status and, in December, began trading on the Nasdaq as one of Oregon's newest public companies.
Given the splash that Vacasa made on the PBJ's 2014 list, we thought it was worth highlighting startups that are making their own debuts on this year's list. We narrowed the scope to look only at newbies that are less than 10 years old.
That brought us to the 12 companies listed here in alphabetical order. We're calling them Early Risers, in that they're young and rising fast, not to mention strengthening the entrepreneurial fabric that is, in so many ways, the backbone of Oregon's economy.
