A specialty pharmacy firm that began operations in Robinson Township earlier this year is celebrating a series of recent credentials that will allow it to operate across the country, among other abilities.
Zeal Specialty Pharmacy, which works to serve patients who have rare diseases and conditions that often require high-cost medications for treatment, has obtained the necessary licensures to operate in all 50 states. It has also received Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation from the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission and the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, the latter of which also awarded a "Rare Disease & Orphan Drug Designation" to Zeal.
"We know what specialty should be, and what it hasn't been for a long time," Jonathan Ogurchak, CEO and co-founder of Zeal Specialty Pharmacy, said in a prepared statement. "When patients are able to have a higher degree of control over their latest online purchase, and not a life-saving medication, that's a huge problem. Fortunately, that's a problem that Zeal was built to fix."
In a July 2023 interview with the Pittsburgh Business Times, Ogurchak said he targeted obtaining this national feat by the end of 2023 and that the startup's overall progress had been going "faster than my wildest dreams." Ogurchak, one of Pittsburgh Inno's "Rising Founder" winners in the annual Fire Awards, has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical world having served previously as an executive at Pittsburgh-based Pantherx Specialty Pharmacy and more recently as the current CEO and founder of Stack, a local firm that provides automation software for pharmacies.
Zeal operates out of about 12,000 square feet at 100 Business Center Drive in Robinson Township.
