The "Grow with Google" program has partnered with a local organization that works to bring digital skills training and other resources to LGBTQ+ and Black communities in Pittsburgh.

As a result of this partnership, True T PGH has launched "TRUE T EDU" for up to 50 people who wish to learn in-demand skills in the tech sector. These students do not need to have any relevant prior experience or a college degree relating to tech to apply and, if selected, be placed in this program.

There is no cost to students who are enrolled in this program, True T PGH said.

"As we join hands with Grow with Google, we're not just offering skills; we're unlocking doors to possibilities," John Easter III, project lead at True T PGH, said in a statement. "[TRUE T EDU] underscores our commitment to empowering every individual, regardless of background, with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital age."

Training options, which will result in Google Career Certificates, include those in cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing, e-commerce, IT support, project management and user experience design.

Applications for the program are due by Jan. 11, 2024. Classes, to be taken online with less than 10 hours of study required per week, will start on Feb. 5.

Those who graduate from the program will be connected with over 150 employers, many among the largest in the country, so they can pursue careers in their desired technical fields.

True T PGH is located in Bloomfield. It strives to provide social activism, arts, health, wellness and other community support endeavors for Pittsburgh's LGBTQ+ population.
