A tech-focused entrepreneurship program competition for young girls between the ages of 8 and 18 plans to open a Pittsburgh chapter next year following a partnership with a regional public education agency.
Technovation Girls, which has chapter programs around the world, announced its collaboration with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) will result in a local affiliate to begin during the 2024 season. AIU, a provider of specialized services to suburban school districts, charter and vocational-technical schools in Allegheny County, is based near the Waterfront shopping complex in Homestead.
The curriculum from Technovation will allow participants to learn about coding and artificial intelligence systems under an entrepreneurial lens and as part of an effort that will look to encourage the building of mobile applications to address societal problems.
With the launch of this Pittsburgh chapter, Technovation is adding to its goal of reaching 25 million girls over the next 15 years, according to a report from international business publication Forbes.
