A new collaboration between engineering simulation software developer Ansys Inc. and a division of Sony Group Corp. will see the two entities work to produce next-generation sensor technology for future autonomous vehicle applications.

As part of the partnership, Ansys (NASDAQ: ANSS) and Sony Semiconductor Solutions will work to enhance the high-fidelity image sensor simulation tech and camera-based features for these assets.

For its role, Ansys said it has developed a software interface that works with Sony's sensor models so that the intricate simulations of these technologies can be conducted in various scenarios and environments.

"The Ansys and Sony technology collaboration facilitates rapid development and verification of camera features for AV and ADAS applications," John Lee, vice president and general manager of the electronics, semiconductor and optics business unit at Ansys, said in a prepared statement. “As a result, the joint workflow yields more robust simulations, greater predictive accuracy, higher-fidelity images, and, ultimately, more reliable AV and ADAS applications."
