A Pittsburgh-based biotech startup focused on developing innovations for oral health announced the appointment of a new CEO.

John Boresi has joined OraBio Inc. as its top executive and as a member of its board.

Previously, Boresi served as an executive at Henry Schein Inc., a global medical and dental supplies distributor where he oversaw the company's business unit charged with developing and commercializing proprietary brands and products. He now looks to do the same for OraBio.

"There is a real need in the marketplace for the innovations we want to bring to market, as well as the business model we have established," Boresi said in a statement. "It is a privilege to be a part of an organization and team that will have such a significant impact on the dental world."

The flagship product from OraBio, founded in 2021, is called Periovance, which helps with the diagnosis, prevention, treatment and maintenance of gingivitis and other similar oral health conditions.

OraBio employs four people who work remotely. Its headquarters is based within the RIDC Industrial Park near Fox Chapel.

Correction/Clarification
A previous version of this article misattributed the employee count of OraBio and where they perform their work. The story has since been updated to reflect these changes.
