An event that drew thousands who wished to learn about and see first-hand the various robotics developments in Pittsburgh is returning once again this fall.
The Pittsburgh Robotics Network, a business advocacy group representing more than 120 robotics companies, announced that its Pittsburgh Robotics Discovery Day is coming back to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on No . 16 following the success of last year's inaugural event.
Free and open to the public, Discovery Day will look to put an emphasis on automation- and artificial intelligence-based innovations. Over 80 exhibitors and 4,500 attendees came to last year's event, the PRN said.
"Pittsburgh Robotics Discovery Day is more than just an event; it's an interactive opportunity for attendees to engage with the trailblazers in robotics and AI, discover how these technologies are shaping our everyday lives, and discover ways they can be a part of building our future," Jenn Apicella, interim executive director of the PRN, said in a prepared statement. "Pittsburgh is a recognized global leader in robotics and artificial intelligence, and this event opens this work up to the public, and invites all to engage with and be a part of this innovative and dynamic community."
The "Robotics Zone," the "Career Pathways Zone" and the "Community Zone" spaces throughout the showroom floor will also be back to highlight local tech, job possibilities and business development resources, respectively.
Support for this year's event is being supplied in part by the $62.7 million Build Back Better Regional Challenge grant the region won last fall from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
