A Pittsburgh-based startup that uses autonomously flying drones to help warehouses manage their inventory announced it acquired an industry peer.
Gather AI said its customer base now grows to 25 firms following the deal to purchase Ware.
The company did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
"Acquiring Ware’s business accelerates our growth further, bringing our proven solution to more warehouses, and enabling our customers to leverage data insights from across our growing network," Gather AI CEO Sankalp Arora said in a statement.
Gather's off-the-shelf consumer drones have been modified to be capable of autonomously navigating the aisles of warehouses to then find and scan products or items that are stored throughout the facility.
In October 2022, Gather closed on a $10 million Series A funding round, one of the largest funding rounds of its size and stage for a local startup at the time. Tribeca Venture Partners, a New York-based investment firm, led the round. Other participants included already existing funders such as Xplorer Capital, Dundee Venture Capital, Expa, Bling Capital, XRC Labs and 99 Tartans — a local investor that backs CMU startups.
Gather employs about 40 workers, many of whom work out of its Squirrel Hill headquarters.
