Over 500 youth who make up the Pittsburgh Pirates RBI Athletes program are set to receive a free SwingTracker bat from Diamond Kinetics as part of a new partnership.
The bats, equipped with smart sensors, will allow these young players of baseball and softball to gain insights into their talents while also being afforded the opportunity to see how and where their swing could be improved.
According to the Pirates and Diamond Kinetics, which is based in Pittsburgh, the partnership will give these players a competitive edge against their opponents on the field.
The Diamond Kinetics sensor attached at the end of a bat collects various data metrics that are then sent to the DK App, where players and their coaches can gain insights on how a given player's swing is performing. Customized training lessons are then able to be developed to help players adjust their swings if needed.
"We love how our technology helps bring the big leagues right into the backyard," CJ Handron, CEO of Diamond Kinetics, said in a press release. "Through our partnership with the Pirates, we’re getting our mobile app in the hands of more kids who will not only improve their hitting skills, but also grow their love of the game."
Diamond Kinetics' new partnership with the Pirates comes just days after the company established partnerships with Ripken Baseball and Cooperstown All Star Village, which will bring additional app content and games to the DK App for players to compete against one another based on their logged stats.
