A Pittsburgh-based ed-tech company has tapped a former executive at Scholastic Corp. to fill the latest expansion of the company's C-Suite.

Carnegie Learning Inc., which emerged from more than 30 years of research at Carnegie Mellon University, has appointed Chris Hedrick to serve as the company's first chief revenue officer. He reports directly to CEO Barry Malkin.

Hedrick's prior position at Scholastic had him serving as the company's senior vice president of sales. Before that, Hedrick held various leadership roles at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Cambium Learning.

"In his role, Chris will be responsible for developing and executing our revenue strategy, overseeing all revenue-generating activities, and ensuring that we continue to grow and thrive in the dynamic and exciting edtech market," Malkin said in a prepared statement. "With his breadth and depth of experience – from classroom teacher to highly-successful sales leader – Chris will accelerate our positive impact across more and more school districts."

Carnegie Learning's last public C-Suite announcement came in March 2022 when it appointed Quinn O’Brien to serve as its chief marketing officer, a post he took on after being the vice president of global marketing Lenovo.

Based in downtown Pittsburgh, Carnegie Learning has gone on to employ about 800 workers globally.
