A new innovation-focused enterprise from Pittsburgh-based S&B USA, which itself serves as the U.S. operations for Israeli-headquartered Shikun & Binui, has launched its first pilot program that will see it aid in the deployment of electric school buses in West Virginia.

S&B USA eMobility, the S&B USA subsidiary, will provide project financing, charging infrastructure and electric fleet operations software for GreenPower Motor Co., a Rancho Cucamonga, California-based electric vehicle manufacturer that has already begun using four of its electric school buses across eight school districts in West Virginia.

"S&B USA eMobility is excited to be a part of the GreenPower team," Haggai Dror, managing director of S&B USA eMobility said in a prepared statement. "We pride ourselves in working with the most advanced technology partners in e-mobility to protect and achieve economic, social and environmental balance for us and for the generations to come."

The pilot program is also looking to assess how electric-powered school buses fare in mountainous terrain, in cooler temperatures and on rural roads.
