A delegation of Pittsburgh-based technology companies and organizations that work in or adjacent to the defense industry have embarked on their first trip to Washington, D.C., to meet with officials interested in learning about the region's capabilities.
The Defense Robotics and Intelligence Systems Coalition, organized by the Pittsburgh Technology Council, consists of over a dozen entities looking to bring awareness to solutions being developed in Pittsburgh that might benefit the Department of Defense. Named participating organizations include Ansys Inc., Carnegie Mellon University, Carnegie Robotics, Edge Case Research Inc., Gecko Robotics Inc., Humotech, Innovation Works Inc., KEF Robotics, Near Earth Autonomy Inc., Nokomis Inc., QINTEL, Resilient Cognitive Solutions and Visimo LLC.
"As the United States and our allies seek to develop modern deterrence capabilities to address narrowing technological advantages over our ‘near peer’ competitors, we believe that the Department of Defense will be increasingly looking for solutions being engineered right here in southwestern Pennsylvania," the Tech Council's Senior Vice President for Operations and Government Affairs Brian Kennedy said in an email statement.
During their multi-day trip, members of the delegation will meet with officials at the Pentagon across different departments and organizations within the military. The delegation also will meet with members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, as well as members of the Robotics Caucus and Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation.
