A Pittsburgh-based managed IT, cybersecurity and cloud-based services company is looking to continue expanding its presence in Boston following the close of an acquisition of a firm based there.

Magna5, which has had a series of acquisitions over the past few months, announced it closed on a deal to acquire the U.S. assets of Apogee IT Services. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

"The demand for managed IT services continues to grow rapidly and adding Apogee's skilled team will enhance our combined services delivery experience for customers in two of our core regions," Robert Farina, CEO of Magna5, said in a press release. "We're thrilled to welcome Apogee's U.S. customers and look forward to working with them to provide an even more robust set of offerings as their trusted, outsourced IT services partner."

Added Paul Cronin, CEO of Apogee: "Our customers will immensely benefit through this acquisition by gaining immediate access to Magna5's larger, more comprehensive platform and best-of-breed managed IT solution sets including network cybersecurity tools, backup and disaster recovery maintenance and IT monitoring."

Last September, Magna5 acquired a Philadelphia-based peer called Interphase Systems Inc. At the time, it marked the fourth acquisition in a little over a year for the company and the fifth managed services-specific acquisition in its history.

Magna5 is a NewSpring Holdings subsidiary company and is based in the Robinson area.
