Expedient, a Pittsburgh-based full-stack cloud services provider, is starting the new year with new leadership at the top and in other key executive positions within the company.

Bryan Smith is now tasked with leading the company as its top executive, replacing long-time president and CEO Shawn McGorry who is stepping down from the day-to-day management of the tech firm. McGorry will remain active in the company's overall operations as the new chairman of Expedient's board.

A promotion from within, Smith takes the CEO role after previously serving as Expedient's chief strategy officer. He's been with the company for over two decades and is credited with the oversight of some of Expedient's most successful growth initiatives.

"The beauty of this particular situation is it's a very, very seamless and nondisruptive transition because, in reality, Bryan has probably been providing most of the strategic direction and planning for our product solutions and where we take the company next for quite some time," McGorry said. "We do these things really as an executive leadership team, but Bryan is a really strong voice for industry trends and client wants and needs and the evolution of technology. We have some very, very qualified people internally that we could have gone to but Bryan, in terms of strategic direction, is clearly the best choice for us at this point in time."

Smith said he's excited for the new role given the "unique spot" he sees Expedient in as it relates to the overall cloud infrastructure implementation industry, which itself continues to grow as more companies look for external networking solutions based in the cloud. He declined to disclose revenue figures for the 400-person company but noted it's been a profitable business for nearly 20 years.

"This is a huge opportunity for me to really expand the operation side of the business and move into that additional executive role," Smith said. "We've been able to grow the business quite a bit even through the pandemic as well. I think that we've weathered that storm and when you look at kind of the opportunity ahead, things have really converged with the direction that we've been taking the business for a number of years."

Joining Smith in new roles at Expedient are Jonathan Rosenson, who has been promoted to serve as the company's president in addition to his current role as chief operating officer, and Dennis Musolino, who now takes on the post of chief revenue officer after previously serving as a senior vice president of sales within the company. All three assumed their new titles on Jan. 1.

"It's just the right time, the right place and the right people in a great situation," McGorry said. "I'm still excited to be involved in the business; I think the business just has a terrific future."
