South Side-based LifeX, a life sciences-focused investment and startup incubation organization, has begun accepting applications for its free accelerator program taking place in spring 2023.

The 13-week program is designed to equip early-stage startups or ventures with the necessary tools to pursue the commercialization of a technology product focused on either digital health, medical devices or therapeutics. LifeX's first cohort of this program next year will meet virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 7 through May 25.

Applications are due by Jan. 23, 2023.

Those selected for the program must have a proof of concept or validation of the underlying scientific feasibility of their product and they should be on the path to securing or licensing any relevant IP rights for commercialization. The program does not require that a legal business entity be formed to join, though that should be anticipated in the near future.

At least one member of the founding team must commit a minimum of six-to-eight hours per week to the accelerator program.

LifeX touted that successful graduates of its cohorts have gone on to receive funding like Small Business Innovation Research grants (SBIRs) and other forms of investment.
